Full Biography

Wendy O. Williams, born Wendy Orlean Williams on May 28, 1949 in Webster, New York, was an American singer and actress known for her punk rock persona. After leaving home at 16, she traveled widely, working various jobs including lifeguarding, stripping, and serving at Dunkin' Donuts. In 1978, she began performing in live sex shows and appeared in the adult film 'Candy Goes to Hollywood'. Later that year, she joined punk rock band Plasmatics, gaining fame for her stage theatrics. After releasing three albums with the band, Williams embarked on a solo career, releasing several albums between 1984 and 1988. She made her screen debut in 'Reform School Girls' (1986), recording the title song, and appeared in other films and TV shows. Dubbed 'The Queen of Shock Rock', she was nominated for a Grammy in 1985. Williams committed suicide on April 6, 1998.
