Denise Georgette Gordy, born into the influential Gordy family of Motown Records' founder Berry Gordy, began her acting career in 1972 with 'Lady Sings the Blues'. She appeared in films like 'Black Fist' (1974) and 'Toy Soldiers' (1991). Gordy contributed vocals to the soundtrack of 'Black Fist'. She was married to actor Richard Lawson from 1978 to 1989, with whom she has a daughter, actress Bianca Lawson. Denise is also the biological mother of Marvin Gaye III, born when she was sixteen, whose biological father and her aunt's husband was singer Marvin Gaye.
