Sandy Ratcliff, born Sandra Mary McConville on October 2, 1950 in London, England, began her career as a model and was famously dubbed 'The Face of the 70s' by photographer Lord Snowden. She transitioned into acting, notably appearing in Ken Loach's Family Life (1971), Radio On (1979), and playing Sue Osman in the inaugural episode of EastEnders in 1985, a role she held until 1989. Ratcliff faced significant challenges post-EastEnders, including health issues, addiction struggles, and legal troubles stemming from providing a false alibi for her boyfriend Michael Shorey. She later retrained as a counsellor but had retired by 2010. Ratcliff passed away on April 7, 2019 at the age of 70.
