Mitsuko Baisho, born November 22, 1946 in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, is a renowned Japanese actress known for her collaborations with directors Shohei Imamura and Akira Kurosawa. She has won several awards for her acting, including Best Actress at the 10th Hochi Film Award for 'Love Letter' and Ikiteru uchi ga hana nano yo shindara sore made yo to sengen, as well as Best Supporting Actress at the 8th and 22nd Hochi Film Awards for 'The Geisha' and 'Tokyo Lullaby', respectively. Baisho's sister is actress-singer Chieko Baisho.
