Kate Levering was born on January 1, 1979, in Sacramento, California. She graduated from El Camino Fundamental High School in 1997 and moved to New York City to pursue a career on Broadway. In 2001, she played Peggy Sawyer in the revival of '42nd Street', earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and winning the Fred Astaire Award for Best Female Dancer for her tap dancing. She briefly performed this role before leaving to star in the Broadway flop 'Thou Shalt Not', composed by Harry Connick Jr. and choreographed by Susan Stroman.
