Freema Agyeman, born March 20, 1979, is an English actress known for her roles in various TV series and films. She gained recognition playing Martha Jones in 'Doctor Who' (2005-2010) and reprised the role in its spin-off 'Torchwood'. From 2009 to 2012, she starred as Alesha Phillips in 'Law & Order: UK'. In 2013, she made her US television debut on 'The Carrie Diaries' as Larissa Loughlin. She also played Amanita Caplan in Netflix's 'Sense8' (2015-2017) and Dr. Helen Sharpe in NBC's 'New Amsterdam' (2018-present). Other notable roles include Penny in the film 'North v South' (2015).
