"Meet Turkish beauty Deniz Akkaya, who holds the reins of 'Turkey's Next Top Model,' her country's equivalent of America's popular show hosted by Tyra Banks or Germany's version helmed by Heidi Klum. Born in Istanbul, Deniz first made waves in the modeling world by participating in prestigious contests like 'Elite Model Look' and 'Best Model of Turkey,' eventually claiming victory in 1997. Unlike many waif-thin models, Deniz stands out with her fuller figure and striking black hair. Simultaneously pursuing acting alongside her modeling career, she appeared in films such as the romantic comedy 'Green Light' (2002), the political drama 'Vizontele Tuuba' (2003), and the TV series 'Metro Palas,' before landing her hosting role on Turkey's version of ANTM in 2006.
