Andrea Thompson was born on January 6, 1960, in Dayton, Ohio. She moved to Australia at age six and left high school at 16 to travel extensively before settling in New York City. There, she started modeling and studied acting under Uta Hagen at the Strasberg Studio and Herbert Berghof Studio.
