Ligia Borowczyk (1932-2022) was a Polish actress known for her roles in several films directed by her husband, Walerian Borowczyk, including 'Goto, Island of Love'. She also appeared in Chris Marker's 'La Jetée'. Borowczyk passed away in Warsaw at the age of 89.

Story

Goto, l'île d'amour (1969) follows the journey of a simple thief who resides on the isolated island of Goto, ruled by a tyrannical dictator. The thief begins to rise through the ranks of society, from his initial criminal activities to eventually becoming a fly-catcher and dog-keeper. Meanwhile, he also takes up the role of boot polisher. As he climbs the social ladder on this isolated island, various temptations arise that threaten not only his personal fate but potentially the destiny of Goto itself.
