Full Biography

Julie Gayet, born on June 3, 1972 in Suresnes, France, is an accomplished French actress and film producer. Daughter of a professor and head of gastric surgery at the Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, Brice Gayet, and an antique dealer mother, Julie received a social liberal intellectual upbringing. After studying art history, psychology, circus skills, and operatic singing, she began her acting career in 1992 with an episode of the French TV series 'Premiers baisers'. Her first notable film role was in the 1996 comedy 'Delphine 1, Yvan 0'. She has performed musically in videos for Benjamin Biolay and sung a duet with Marc Lavoine. In 2007, Gayet founded her own production company, Rouge International, producing films such as 'The Ride' by Stephanie Gillard. In 2013, she co-directed the documentary 'Cinéast(e)s'. She was married to author and screenwriter Santiago Amigorena from 2003 to 2006, with whom she has two children. Known for her political activism, Gayet supported François Hollande during his presidential campaign in 2012. In 2014, rumors circulated about an affair with President Hollande after the tabloid Closer published alleged revelations and photos.
