Born Lin Li-hui on April 16, 1976, in Taipei, Taiwan, Shu Qi is a highly acclaimed actress and model who has successfully navigated a diverse and impactful career across East Asian and international cinema. She began her film career in Hong Kong's Category III film scene in the mid-1990s but quickly transitioned to mainstream fare, famously stating that she would "put back on all the clothes that [she] had taken off one by one". Her talent soon shone through, earning her a Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1998 and establishing her as an influential star. Shu Qi gained wider international recognition starring opposite Jackie Chan in the romantic comedy Gorgeous (1999) and later appeared in the action film The Transporter (2002) with Jason Statham.
