Story

Antonio Salieri, a respected Italian composer serving as the court composer of Emperor Joseph II in Vienna, becomes filled with envy and resentment towards the remarkably talented young Viennese composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salieri believes that Mozart's music is miraculous and divine, but struggles to understand why God favored Mozart over him despite his own piety and talent. He finds Mozart vulgar and shocking, further fueling his jealousy. Unable to bear this perceived injustice, Salieri decides to take revenge against both God and Mozart for his own musical mediocrity.

Summary

Amadeus is a 1984 biographical drama directed by Miloš Forman, based on the stage play 'Amadeus' by Peter Shaffer. The film explores themes of envy, talent, and divine favor through the lens of the rivalry between Antonio Salieri, a respected composer, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a prodigiously talented musician whose genius Salieri cannot match despite his own considerable gifts. Set in 18th-century Austria, the movie provides a fictionalized account of Mozart's life and death, intertwining historical facts with dramatic license to create a compelling narrative about one man's envy-fueled obsession.
