Story
In 'Eastern Promises', a Russian gangster named Kirill (Vincent Cassel) is ordered by his boss Semyon (Armin Mueller-Stahl) to silence a woman who knows too much about their criminal activities. The woman dies giving birth in a London hospital, leaving behind a diary that her teenage daughter Tatiana (Navya Nazer) hopes will reveal her father's identity. Tatiana hires a private investigator, Anna (Naomi Watts), to find out the truth. Kirill kills the investigator but is confronted by him again later on when he discovers Kirill knows about his true lineage in the criminal world. Meanwhile, Semyon has ordered Kirill's death due to his failures and betrayals. Kirill then seeks protection from Tatiana and Anna, offering to reveal the secrets of the diary if they help him escape Semyon. In a final showdown at a restaurant bathroom, Kirill is stabbed by Semyon's men but not before revealing that Anna was once in love with his brother, the man she believed was her father.
