Full Biography

Elizabeth McGovern was born on July 18, 1961, and began her acting career while studying at Juilliard. Her first film role was in 'Ordinary People' (1980). In 1981, she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for playing Evelyn Nesbit in 'Ragtime'. After completing her studies at American Conservatory Theatre and The Juilliard School, McGovern performed in plays Off-Broadway and later on Broadway. She starred in notable films like 'Once Upon a Time in America' (1984), 'Johnny Handsome' (1989), and 'The Handmaid's Tale' (1989).

Story

In the small coastal town of Santa Monica, California, two lifelong friends from blue-collar families, Henry (Nicky Guest) and Nicky (Sean Penn), are about to be drafted into World War II. Before they ship off, they plan to make the most of their remaining time together. Henry becomes smitten with new girl in town Caddie Winger (Demi Moore), believing she's wealthy due to her fancy car. Mischievous and reckless Nicky gets into trouble involving a stolen car and a dangerous game of chicken on the highway, forcing Henry and Caddie to become involved and straining their friendship.
