Elizabeth McGovern was born on July 18, 1961, and began her acting career while studying at Juilliard. Her first film role was in 'Ordinary People' (1980). In 1981, she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for playing Evelyn Nesbit in 'Ragtime'. After completing her studies at American Conservatory Theatre and The Juilliard School, McGovern performed in plays Off-Broadway and later on Broadway. Johnny Handsome, a deformed gangster, plans and executes a successful robbery with his associates.
