Story
Set ninety-seven years after a nuclear war, 'The 100' begins with the Ark, a massive space station housing Earth's last survivors, facing imminent collapse due to failing life support systems. To determine Earth's habitability, the Ark's governing council selects one hundred juvenile prisoners ('the 100') and sends them down to the planet's surface as part of a last-ditch effort. Among these teens are Clarke Griffin, Bellamy Blake, and Octavia Blake, each with their own struggles and secrets. Upon arrival, they find Earth beautiful but dangerous. They soon discover that not all humanity was wiped out; there are people on Earth who survived the war, known as 'grounders.' As the seasons progress, the story expands to include Mount Weather, a mountain facility inhabited by survivors who have been living underground for generations, and the Ice Nation, a powerful grounder tribe from the frozen north.
