Carla Camurati, born Carla de Andrade Camurati on October 14, 1960 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, started her career as an actress appearing in telenovelas like 'Livre para Voar' (1984) and 'Fera Radical' (1988). She also starred in the film 'Estrela Nua' in 1984. In 1994, Camurati left acting to pursue filmmaking, founding Copacabana Filmes and directing several films thereafter. Apart from her work behind the camera, she has been involved in cultural production, serving as the chairperson of the International Children's Film Festival and the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro between 2007 and 2014.
