Charlotte Rampling, born Tessa Charlotte Rampling OBE on February 5, 1946, is an English actress known for her work in European arthouse films. She began her career as a model and later became a fashion icon during the Swinging Sixties. In 'Sous le sable' (2000), she portrays Marie, a professor of English literature who loses her husband Jean while vacationing in France.

Story

Felice Pietà, a humble fisherman, lives with his second wife Adelaide and raises Monica, his daughter from his first marriage to Silvia who was presumed dead by suicide. However, Felice discovers that Silvia did not die but instead faked her death to escape their life together. Now, she wants custody of their daughter Monica.
