Annie Cordy, born Léonie Juliana Baroness Cooreman on June 16, 1928 in Laeken, Belgium, was a Belgian actress and singer. She started her career as a dancer in Paris after leaving Brussels at age 22. Cordy recorded her first songs in 1952 and made her film debut in 'Boum sur Paris' (1953). She appeared in over 50 films, including notable roles in 'April Fools' Day' (1954), 'Sacha Guitry's Royal Affairs in Versailles' (1954), and 'Le Chanteur de Mexico' (1956). Her song 'La Ballade de Davy Crockett' topped French charts for five weeks in 1956. King Albert II of Belgium awarded her the title of Baroness in recognition of her achievements.
