Voy a explotar (I'm Going to Explode) follows Román, the rebellious son of a right-leaning congressman, who attempts suicide on-stage at his high school talent show but fails. Maru, a fellow student, is the only one to applaud him afterwards. Inspired by a sudden urge for freedom and purpose, Román steals his father's gun and a Volkswagen car, convincing Maru to join him on an impromptu road trip.
