Dr. Marc Lacroix, a psychiatrist specializing in brain functions, becomes obsessed with finding the link between mind and spirit. He secretly builds a machine to exchange minds between humans. He selects Zyto, a psychotic killer, for his experiment, hoping to help the mentally ill recover while experiencing their madness himself. The initial experiment is successful, but Zyto refuses to reverse the switch, trapping Marc in Zyto's body. Meanwhile, Zyto takes over Marc's life and puts Marc's family in danger.
