Story
In 18th century Denmark, British princess Caroline (Alicia Vikander) finds herself married to King Christian VII (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), who turns out to be mentally unstable and emotionally distant. Feeling isolated in her new life at the royal court, she becomes close with German doctor Johann Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen), who initially gains Christian's trust by treating his supposed illness.
