Kate Miller, a sexually frustrated housewife, has an adulterous encounter with a stranger she meets at an art museum. While returning to his apartment to retrieve her wedding ring, she is brutally killed in an elevator by a tall blonde woman wearing dark sunglasses and white gloves. Liz Blake, a prostitute who witnessed the murder, becomes the prime suspect and the killer's next target. Kate's son Peter enlists Liz's help to catch his mother's killer despite Detective Marino's uncooperative investigation. Together, they try to uncover the truth while evading the relentless assassin.
