Das melancholische Mädchen follows an unnamed girl as she navigates through the city, seeking a place to sleep each night. Throughout her journey, she encounters various individuals who reflect different aspects of contemporary society. Her attempt to write a book stalls at the first sentence of her second chapter. Instead of finding her place amidst art galleries, yoga studios, and strangers' beds, she starts viewing her depression as a political issue.
