Vincent and Freda Lopez, a young married Toronto couple, drive to Savannah, Georgia for vacation where they meet Camilla Cara, an eccentric elderly violinist, and her son Harold. Freda bonds with Camilla over their shared love of music despite Vince's dismissive attitude towards Freda's musical ambitions. After a heated argument about Freda's career, she asks Camilla to accompany her back to Toronto for a concert at the Winter Garden Theatre.
