In Geneva during the 1930s, Solal, a high-ranking Jewish official at the League of Nations, and Ariane, a young married aristocrat from a Protestant family, meet at a party. Despite their different worlds, they are drawn to each other and engage in a passionate love affair. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Ariane is married to Adrien, who works under Solal. Their love faces hostility from society, and they must also deal with their own personal struggles - Solal's obsessive love and Ariane's physical passion.
