Upon learning of her estranged mother's death in New Orleans, Purslane Hominy Will ('Pursy'), a jaded teenage loner played by Scarlett Johansson, returns to her childhood home after years away. However, she finds that the house is no longer hers; it is inhabited by two men, one being Bobby Long (John Travolta), an aging alcoholic musician.
