Story

In 480 BC, King Leonidas of Sparta leads an alliance of Greek city-states against the invading Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae. The Greeks are vastly outnumbered but hold back the enemy for three days. However, on the third day, a local shepherd named Ephialtes betrays them by revealing a secret path around their defenses to King Xerxes. Despite this, the 300 Spartans and other Greek soldiers continue to fight bravely until they are ultimately defeated.

Summary

Directed by Zack Snyder in 2006, '300' is an epic action film loosely based on Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name. The movie depicts the historic Battle of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas and his Spartan army held off the Persian invasion led by Xerxes. While the film takes creative liberties with historical accuracy, it serves as a stylized retelling of this famous last stand that inspired unity among Greek city-states and contributed to the birth of democracy.
